OpenMotor
Propulsion
Open-Hardware electric propulsion for Drones, Robotics and Aviation. Optimized architecture for maximum Torque Density.Designed for Mass Production.

Core Technology
Patented innovations driving high torque density and efficiency.
Scalable Power Architecture
Our modular design is fully scalable, covering a massive performance range from 1 kW to 1 MW. Whether for light drones or heavy industrial propulsion, the core technology delivers industry-leading torque density across all sizes.

Tangential magnet Polarization
Patented magnet array with polarization perpendicular to side walls concentrates flux, increasing field strength by 1.5x.

Flexible Winding Topology
Configurable single/double-layer winding with flexible series-parallel connections for wide KV adjustment.

High-Conductivity Ceramic Insulation
Ceramic insulation Al2O3 provides superior thermal conductivity (up to 25 W/m·K) directly from coil to stator.

Grain-Oriented and Non Oriented Steel
We utilize high-permeability Grain-Oriented (GO) or Non-Oriented steel (up to 1.9T saturation). This allows us to optimize the core for either maximum torque or high speed.

Adaptive Cooling Technology
Our modular architecture features high-efficiency cooling with spring-loaded radiator segments that maintain constant pressure on the stator, automatically compensating for thermal expansion gaps. This scalable system supports options ranging from passive air-cooled fins for lightweight drones to forced-air and high-performance liquid cooling for heavy industrial and aerospace propulsion.

Rectangular wire Cross-Section
Rectangular wire cross-section increases slot fill factor to ~80%, reducing resistance and increasing current density and heat dissipation.

Open and Close ( IP65) motor construction
We provide motors in both Open (O) configurations for optimal weight and Closed (C) versions. Our closed designs are fully sealed to IP65 standards, offering robust protection against dust and water for industrial applications.

Open Research Roadmap
We invite everyone who wants to collaborate on our upcoming breakthroughs:

High-Fill Foil Windings (Cu/Al)
Moving beyond traditional wire. We are developing copper and aluminum foil coils to maximize the fill factor, suppress eddy current losses, and integrate end-windings into active torque production. This results in superior thermal dissipation and higher power density.

Ceramic Insulation via Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO)
We are applying Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO) to aluminum coils to create a high-performance ceramic insulation layer. This resin-free approach drastically increases heat transfer and allows motors to operate reliably in extreme temperature environments where traditional organic insulation fails.

Single-Layer Stator Design
A new stator geometry optimized for one-layer winding. This architecture provides the maximum possible winding factor, doubles the available cooling surface, and creates the shortest thermal path from the coils to the cooling system.
